Employee Engagement Town Hall

The prepared remarks of President Claude Brulé.

February 26, 2020

Good afternoon, everyone. Bonjour. Kwe.

Thank you all for joining us today to discuss the results of our Employee Engagement Survey. You are going to hear many more details from Diane and her team as well as our partner in this effort, Metrics@Work, but there are a few things that I want to emphasize:

  • The first is that this is a new survey and we have a new provider. John Yardley fromMetrics@Workwill explain more in just a few minutes, but this is important to remember. This year’s survey was not a duplication of past surveys, and so it is important to bear that in mind as we listen to the results.

  • This is truly a goodnews story — we can be proud of our scores, particularly in departmental and organizational support for diversity and co-worker relations.

  • But there is room for improvement, too. We need to look more closely at your concerns about organizational hiring practices and department workload manageability.

  • Finally, wehave a comprehensive program that will bring together work we will complete as an organization and work we will complete at the departmental level – different committee work.

Before we continue with our Town Hall, I want to take a moment to thank you all, not just for being here, but for taking the time to provide feedback in the survey. Your answers will play a great part in shaping the Algonquin College of the future, so I think I speak on behalf of our executive team when I say that we are grateful for your contribution. You have spoken, and we are listening.

Thank you. Merci. Miigwetch.
