The Beacon: Health & Wellness Peer Support Space
Being a student can be hard. But peer support — being able to speak with someone who gets it — is what The Beacon is for.
If you ever want a fellow student to talk to who can offer support and connect you with useful resources, The Beacon: Health & Wellness Peer Support Space is here to help guide you. Chat with a trained Algonquin College student peer about mental health, sexual health and sexual violence, and substance use. Support is offered in a one-on-one, drop-in, non-judgmental, confidential, and accessible space.
Students can access this support virtually Monday-Friday, from 12:00pm-5:00pm, in the following ways:
- Microsoft Teams (must have an Algonquin College email address) if you prefer face-to-face conversations
- Live chat if you prefer text-based chatting
- Texting the peer support line at 613.703.8883 (charges may apply if not local to Ottawa)
Students can access this support in-person Monday-Friday, 12:00pm-5:00pm, in Room E346 (3rd Floor, Student Commons).
