Dr. Abdul Al-Azzawi

Abdul Al-Azzawi is an accomplished professional professor who earned his Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, U.K. He has more than 30 years experience in industry, research, and academia. He is currently a Professor with the Bachelor of Information Technology – Photonics and Laser Technology Program at Algonquin College and Carleton University. He was one of the founders of the Photonics Programs at Algonquin Colleges and developed the curriculum. He has published many books, papers, and participated in many workshops and conferences. He is the author of the book “Fiber Optics – Principles and Practices” that was published by Algonquin College and other four books in Photonics published by an international publisher.
Recently, Abdul is the author of two papers from research projects in the College, which were submitted in international professional conferences putting Algonquin College on the map as teaching and research institute among the colleges and universities in Canada.
Abdul has excellent teaching and research capabilities and is highly respected by students and staff. He is the recipient of the NISOD Excellence award from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. He is a member of professional photonics societies in Canada. He is a senior member of SMIEEE.
