Moose Hide Campaign Letter Writing Workshop
May 15, 2025 |1:30pm-3pm
Join Project Lighthouse and the Mamidosewin Centre from 1:30 pm – 3 pm on May 15 in the AC Hub to kick off the Moose Hide Campaign as we gather to support each other, get connected to health and wellness resources, and increase our ability to participate in community action and use our voices to advocate for ending violence towards women and children.
To honour the Moose Hide Campaign, we welcome all Algonquin students to join us in a workshop where you will develop an awareness of how gender-based violence against Indigenous women and girls impacts us all and learn how to locate and write an effective letter to your Member of Parliament to advocate for yourself and others.
All are welcome, regardless of identity, skill, or awareness level! Registration is required.
About the Moose Hide Campaign: The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. It has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. All ages, genders, and backgrounds are invited to take part in Moose Hide Campaign activities.
About Project Lighthouse: Project Lighthouse aims to shine a light on the topic of sexual violence and help you navigate healthy sexual relationships. Through compassion, education, and awareness, this initiative aims to reduce sexual violence at Algonquin College and support survivors of sexual violence.
About the Mamidosewin Centre: The Mamidosewin Centre provides a variety of cultural programs and services to Indigenous learners attending Algonquin College and works to empower and support Indigenous students at Algonquin College into the next phase of their lives in a way that is respectful and reflective of Indigenous cultures.
