Community Project: Indigenous Beading (Sold Out!)

At this Community Project, students will create an original piece of Indigenous art under the guidance of an Indigenous community member. All supplies will be provided for participants, as well as a brief overview of beading in Indigenous cultures.

Beading has a very long artistic and cultural history among the Indigenous people in Canada. Students are invited to attend this event to learn more about the importance of beading in Indigenous cultures


About Lili Miller

Lili Miller is Wolasteqey of the Tobique First Nation. She has facilitated Indigenous arts and crafts workshops in Orleans such as beading, porcupine quillwork, rattle-making and birch bark crafts. She currently runs a monthly Indigenous drum circle, weekly beading groups and monthly workshops in Orleans via her Facebook page Indigenous Roots Orleans/Ottawa East.

Bring a $20 cash deposit* (reimbursed at the event) and your Student ID to the AC Hub desk (2nd Floor, Student Commons) or the AC Hub Satellite desk (ACCE Building) to sign up. Open to current students only.

  • *Deposit: This event is free; however, a $20 deposit is required to ensure attendance. You will get your deposit back when you present your ticket at the event.
  • Tickets: Tickets are limited (first-come, first-served). One per student.
  • Cancellations: You must cancel your ticket in person at the AC Hub desk 48 hours before the event to receive a refund.
  • Latecomers: You must be able to attend the full event to collect your deposit. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your spot will be given to the next student.
