Community Project: Minwaashin Lodge (Sold Out!)

Minwaashin Lodge provides a range of programs and services to First Nations, Inuit and Métis women and children (regardless of status) who are survivors of domestic and other forms of violence, and who may also be suffering the effects of the residential school system. All programs and services are provided in the context of cultural beliefs and values to ensure a holistic approach is used as part of the healing journey.

At this Community Project, participants will be assisting with the Minwaashin Lodge Culture Program which focuses on Indigenous cultural activities and traditional cooking.

Activities may include:

  • Full Moon Ceremonies
  • Traditional Elder Speakers
  • Bannock Doll Making
  • Legends and storytelling
  • Tradition basket making
  • Tee Pee Teachings
  • Sweat Lodge Teachings
  • Beading workshops
  • Impacts of Addictions & Culture Paths to Living Addiction Free
  • New Beginnings – An Experience Thru Art Therapy

Please note that the Minwaashin Lodge is a scent-free environment.

This Community Project is sold out.

Bring a $20 cash deposit* (reimbursed at the event) and your Student ID to the AC Hub desk (2nd Floor, Student Commons) or the AC Hub Satellite desk (ACCE Building) to sign up. Open to current students only.

  • *Deposit: This event is free; however, a $20 deposit is required to ensure attendance. You will get your deposit back when you present your ticket at the event.
  • Tickets: Tickets are limited (first-come, first-served). One per student.
  • Cancellations: You must cancel your ticket in person at the AC Hub desk 48 hours before the event to receive a refund.
  • Latecomers: You must be able to attend the full event to collect your deposit. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your spot will be given to the next student.

This event is off-campus, transportation is provided from the AC Hub.
