Community Project: OCAPDD Silver Spring Garlic Farm (Sold Out)

Aug 08, 2019 |09:00-13:00

Please note, this event is now sold out.

For a quarter of a century, children, youth and adults have made volunteer outings to picturesque Silver Spring Farm, located in the west end of Ottawa at the intersection of Richmond and Baseline Roads. There, through the auspices of the Ottawa-Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (OCAPDD), volunteers have participated in activities and fundraising efforts supporting persons with developmental disabilities. The Silver Spring Farm initiative, which involved growing garlic, was one that would require much more volunteer support than past projects, and help was enlisted from the local community.

For this Community Project, students will be harvesting, cleaning, and sorting the garlic. Come join us! Please wear appropriate clothing for working outdoors and the weather (closed toe shoes are required, sunscreen and a hat are recommended), as the majority of work will be done outdoors. In the event of heavy rain, this activity will be cancelled.

Transportation is provided. Participants are asked to convene at the AC Hub (2nd floor, Student Commons) for 9:00am and will return to campus by bus at 1:00pm.

This project is not wheelchair accessible.

Brought to you by the AC Hub.
