Get to know the College! Welcome, the Winter term has started, and you may have some questions. When are your fees due? How can I get more involved in campus life virtually? Find support and answers to these questions and many student-focused services by tuning in to the Get to Know the College sessions.

Over two weeks, January 12-21, we will be showcasing different AC services daily, on a variety of exciting digital platforms, including Zoom meetings, Instagram Live, and pre-recorded videos.

Open to all Algonquin College students. Advance registration is required for some sessions. Click on the sessions that interest you for more information on how to join.

About the Student Learning Centre

The Student Learning Centre (SLC) offers a variety of services that can help you succeed in your classes, including coaching in the fundamentals (writing, ESL, math, computers, and anatomy), tutoring in specific classes, a space to practice your presentations, and workshops on topics such as research.

About Student Retention & Academic Success

Academic Advisors do more than provide resources and answer questions for students in need. They help you set academic goals, help you develop a career plan, and connect you with resources at the College. Your Academic Advisor is here to support you as you pursue your educational endeavours at Algonquin College.

Can’t get enough trivia? Join us for the Sex, Drugs & Rock n’ Roll(ing Mental Health) – Kahoot trivia session following the SA’s Trivia session at 12:00pm. This session is presented by Counselling Services, Project Lighthouse, and the Umbrella Project, and focuses on mental health, sexual consent and harm reduction. The Wellness and Equity Centre challenges you to make a gratitude journal this month! Creating a practice of gratitude helps to train you to look for positives in your day-to-day. Try to write 3 things in your gratitude journal each day. Your journal can be anything – but here’s an easy way to turn a piece of paper into a mini journal!

About the Wellness & Equity Centre

The Wellness and Equity Centre is a safer space, welcoming all students of Algonquin College, no matter their sexual orientation, gender identity, race, disability status, or any other factors. The Wellness and Equity Centre is focused on student well-being and all the factors that can impact that.

Building supportive connections and communities, connecting with resources, and developing and practicing coping strategies are all part of supporting student mental health and wellness. We aim to build a campus community where all students are fully supported, including 2SLGBTQ+ (2-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer) students, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), students with disabilities, and students facing other barriers on campus. The Centre is open to everyone!

Project In Kind
Project In-Kind is the world’s first global impact movement focused on in-kind giving, with a goal to measure one billion in-kind actions by 2030 to support local communities and to track these impacts on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). These 17 SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address issues such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

The Office of Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship brings Algonquin College’s talented professors and students to greater Ottawa’s businesses, industry and community organizations to collaborate on applied research projects that provide practical solutions to everyday issues and create new and innovative products and services.

Our students get to use a hands-on approach to the latest information and technology, creating new products, services and processes that not only resolve modern challenges but also enrich our communities. We guide students down a learner-driven path of discovery, starting with dream development. We teach the flexibility of applied learning and then let students experience it until it leads them to a workplace transition.

The Algonquin Students’ Association offers a Health & Dental Plan designed specifically for all domestic students. This program offers coverage provided for a number of important health benefits. If you are interested in learning more about updating your plan or opting out, tune in to learn more! We will discuss this valuable service and answer the top 10 most frequently asked questions.

About the Health & Dental Plan

The Health Plan Fee is included in tuition for all full-time, domestic student activity fee-paying students. This means you’re automatically covered by the Student Health Plan provided by We Speak Student! You can see your full fee breakdown on your ACSIS account.
