National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Dec 06, 2023 |1:30pm-2:30pm

December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This day marks the anniversary of the 14 young women who were murdered at Polytechnique Montréal in 1989 because they were women.

Join us in the Student Commons for a vigil at 1:30pm to honour the lives of the 14 women murdered. To bring awareness that gendered violence is still an issue, we are asking for black dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits (184 total) to be donated by December 1 at the latest. These items will be hung around the Student Commons to honour the 184 women who have been murdered in Canada this year simply because they were women. Please drop off items at the AC Hub front desk (2nd Floor, Student Commons.

Presented by Project Lighthouse.
