Third Thursday: Exploring Art, Science, and the Brain with Steven West

Discover the beauty and importance of combining art and science during our first Third Thursday of 2023 with special guest Steven West!
Steven West is a photographic artist with a background in Health Sciences. He creates metacognitive imagery using classic photographic processing techniques that are enhanced by the digital programming of data from medical imaging modalities.
The resulting images show the physical dimensionality of the brain and mind with the emotive portrayal of the neural connectome. His work aims to explore the relationships between mental health and our mindful awareness and experiences. To learn more about Steven West and his work, please click here.
Join us in the AC Hub to hear Steven talk about the story behind his book Beautiful Minds, the value of brain imaging research, The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research, and our new community-centric research strategy. Steven will also touch on the stigma surrounding mental health, the importance of clients and families in research, and how he came to be involved in mental health research.
Open to all AC students and employees. Advanced registration is required. Light refreshments will be available.
