Trip to Black Rapids: Camping and Hiking 101

Calling all students! There’s nothing more Canadian than packing up and heading out into the wild for a weekend adventure. Join us for Trip to Black Rapids: Camping and Hiking 101 facilitated by Parks Canada on July 19, from 9:30am-2pm.
Camping Workshop: Master the basics of camping, including how to set up tents and use camp stoves. Learn about respecting wildlife, animal safety, and embracing the ‘Leave No Trace’ ethos.
Learn-to Hike Workshop: Gear up with essential hiking tips and materials. After the discussion, we’ll embark on a short nature walk to enjoy the tranquility of the great Canadian outdoors.
Make the Most of Your Day! Enjoy the scenic surroundings during downtime. Bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, and a packed lunch or snacks. Whether you’re a seasoned nature lover or new to the wilderness, this event is the perfect opportunity to learn essential outdoor skills and enjoy a day filled with adventure and natural beauty.
Transportation:
A bus will depart from Student Commons (E Building) at 10am and return by 2pm. Please arrive to the AC Hub by no later than 9:30am on event day to sign in and receive your deposit back.
Head over to the front desk of the AC Hub to sign up. Monday – Friday 10am to 4pm. A $20 deposit is required, which will be returned to you at the event check-in.
