Pride, Indigenous History and Two-Spirit Awareness

June is a meaningful month of celebration and reflection, as we recognize Pride Month , honouring 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and National Indigenous History Month.

At the intersection of these two important observances, we honour and celebrate Two-Spirit people and the important place they hold within many Indigenous communities. Two-Spirit is a term used by some Indigenous Peoples to describe diverse identities, roles and experiences related to gender, sexuality and community.

This month is an opportunity to celebrate identity, culture, resilience and belonging, while also building greater awareness of the histories and contributions of Two-Spirit people.

As we celebrate Pride and National Indigenous History Month, we encourage our College community to continue learning, sharing and recognizing the many ways people contribute to a more inclusive and connected community.

To help build awareness and celebrate Two-Spirit voices, we invite you to watch this video and take a moment to reflect on the richness, resilience, and contributions of Two-Spirit people.
