Mandatory Clinical Placement Requirements

In order to be eligible to participate in the Student Massage Clinic and outreach placements at the start of level 3, students are required to:

  • complete important health and safety training (WHMIS, OHSA Standard First Aid and CPR Level C)
  • obtain a Police Record Check for Service with the Vulnerable Sector (PRCSVS)
  • provide proof of vaccination / immunization status (health assessment forms below) to ParaMed. ParaMed is a third party service provider that collects and retains this information on behalf of Algonquin College.

As the COVID vaccination rollout continues, in case you also require any other vaccinations or TB testing, please be advised of the guidelines below:

  • As recommended by the National Advisory Commission on Immunization (NACI) COVID-19 vaccines should not be given at the same time as other vaccines. There should be a period of 14 days after administration of other vaccine before receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Once a dose of COVID-19 vaccine is administered there needs to be a waiting period of 28 days prior to receiving other vaccines.
  • TB testing can be completed any time prior to administration of COVID-19 vaccine or 28 days post COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Health Assessment Forms:

Screening for immunity to certain diseases and verifying that your immunizations are up to date is a requirement of this program. Please note: This process usually takes a minimum of 2 -3 weeks to complete, but may take up to 8 weeks based on your immunization history.
