Knit ’n’ Knatter
Ever wanted to try your hand at knitting? This fun weekly event provides an opportunity to socialize while learning a new skill that also has mental health benefits.
Research has shown that the repetitive motions help prevent and manage stress, pain, and depression which, in turn, strengthens the body’s immune system. Knitting creates a “relaxation response” that can lower blood pressure, heart rate, and help prevent illness. Knitting and crocheting have a calming effect overall, which can help manage anxiety and may even help conditions such an asthma or panic attacks. Additionally, the repetitive movements have been shown to help manage disruptive behaviour and ADHD in children.
