Gerald I. (Gerry) Bresnick was most recently the Corporate Vice President for Environment, Health, Safety and Social Responsibility at Hess Corporation prior to joining the AHC Group as a Senior Associate. Gerry joined Hess in June of 2001 following 21 years of experience with Amoco and BP Corporations.
Gerry joined Amoco in 1980 following a brief career with an international environmental and engineering firm, the World Bank and as an Assistant Professor of Environment and Ecology. During his 18 years with Amoco, he was involved in all areas of Environment, Health and Safety. His assignments ranged from Manager of EH&S for the Amoco Chemicals Company to Director of Corporate Medical Services. While at Amoco, he ran Amoco's Product Stewardship program (which included Amoco Chemicals - at that time, the 5th largest chemical company in the world - and was Chair of the Product Stewardship committee at what was then the Chemical Manufacturers Association. He also served as Director of Regulatory Affair and was responsible for the EH&S Audit Program. At the time of the BP / Amoco merger he was the Strategic and Financial Manager for Amoco Shared Services. Gerry has worked on projects for and with various governments, NGOs’ and international agencies around the world. He has served as Chair or Co-Chair of trade association committees dealing with all areas of health, safety, environment and social impact from oil and petrochemical operations and has spoken at various national and international meetings and conferences. He is the author of numerous studies and reports and several papers in the peer reviewed literature and is a frequent speaker at professional society meetings and college seminars. A native New Yorker, Gerry received his BS degrees in Biology and History from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He then received his Ph.D. in Biology (Ecology) from Tulane University and an Executive MBA from HBS.
