Student Experience

From doorbells to robots

You can’t see electricity so how can you decide why something is not working? Students in the Electrical Engineering Technician program at Algonquin College learn to use meters, scopes and other tools to diagnose problems. This starts with simple house wiring circuits and progresses through electronic, automation and robotics circuits. Students in the electrical program learn to design and build circuits from doorbells to robots.

State-of-the-art facilities

This program is offered in the LEED®Platinum Certified Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (ACCE). The Centre offers 190,000 square feet of space that allows for all construction and related design programs to be housed in a single location. This inter-professional space will encourage collaboration between disciplines and offer many integrated and cross-program learning opportunities for students.

Watch how some of the students from this program have worked with industry to come up with a viable, real-world project. This video was taken at Applied Research Day, an event held by the college that showcases these real-world projects that Algonquin College Students have worked on for the past year.
