Alumni Stories

Mickey Bartkowski

Weston Family Alumni 2021, Red Seal Plumber/ Entrepreneur

‘It became clear to me that every home, school, store or public facility has bathrooms and a source of running water, with that in mind I saw the opportunity and demand for this trade, which inspired me to pursue a career in plumbing.

I want to show young people uncertain about their future that following a path in the trades can lead to becoming a successful professional and entrepreneur. I plan to bring on future apprentices, mentoring them to their fullest potential. Through my successes I will inspire future generations to view the trades as a sought after career opportunity.

The Algonquin College Apprenticeship program was a perfect balance between theory and hands-on training that grabbed the attention of all the students and demonstrated superior knowledge of plumbing. I am grateful to the Weston Family Foundation for their continuous support and abundance of resources throughout my education, and look forward to growing my newly opened plumbing company called Offset Plumbing Ltd.’
