Mission: The Glebe Centre is a not for profit long term care home that provides long-term care, specialized care and community services to clients in the Ottawa community. The Glebe Centre is dedicated to developing and delivering services that will support the highest quality of life for the clients we serve by living our values every day.

The Glebe Centre provides a wide variety of activities and programming in both long-term care and community support. We are resident/client focused and our programming is developed with the understanding that every person is unique and we will therefore be sensitive to the needs of each resident and client.

Volunteer Position Description: The Java Music program is a research based peer support activity group program. The program is focused on peer support and is based on the altruistic concept that people are happiest when helping one another. The program includes step by step instructions, a group manual, a facilitators guide, a hand carved Aboriginal stick, implementation DVD and 8 CD’s of custom recorded music. The program works on themes and is geared for participant interaction. The program is designed for seniors some of whom might have lost cognitive abilities. Plan on a three hour commitment once per week.

Volunteer Position Requirements:

  • Police Record Check
  • Minimum 19 years of age
  • Interacting with the public / in a group setting
