Mission:
Student Links is an initiative of Community Living Ontario that works with high school students with varying intellectual disabilities to assist them in exploring their interests and developing skills to prepare for the future. Student Links is a mentoring program where we partner these students with members of their community who share a common interest and can help the students learn new skills and develop socially valued roles where they can contribute to their community.
Volunteer Position Description:
Are you passionate about the digital age? Love working with computers or in tech? Do you create websites, work in UX/UI, code or program? Is graphic design and animation a passion of yours? Are you interested in shaping the next generation of computer and tech experts?
Looking to connect a prospective mentor with a youth to learn more about roles in tech, computer coding and programming, website building and possibly explore other opportunities in this area of interest.
If you are willing to impart your experience and knowledge and you enjoy working with youth and helping them to explore their interests, this is the initiative for you! If you are employed, study, or have a hobby in any of these fields and would be willing to volunteer some time to teach a youth your skills while working on a project together, we want to hear from you!
Student Links is an initiative that offers High School students who have an intellectual disability an opportunity to expand on current interests and hobbies, while discovering new possibilities for life after High School.
Your Role as a Mentor:
- Presenting information about your field of expertise
- Introducing a student to your hobby or industry
- Providing an opportunity for hands-on experience
- Working on a cool tech project together
This is an opportunity for you to help a student by sharing something you’re passionate about.
Time commitments are flexible.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Police Record Check
- Minimum 19 Years of Age
