Getting Started with MS Copilot Chat

Quick Start Guide

As a student, you have access to the Copilot chat AI tool. Instructions on how to use Copilot chat are found here:

Option 1 – Access Copilot Chat on a web browser

  1. Sign into Copilot Chat (https://www.office.com) in a web browser with your AC Live credentials.
  2. Ensure you see the green shield on the top right corner.
  3. Type your question or prompt into the chat box and press Enter.

Option 2 – Access Copilot Chat on a mobile device

  1. Install the Microsoft Copilot AI Assistant from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and sign in with your college credentials.
  3. Enter your question or prompt and review the response carefully before using it.

Option 3 – Access Copilot Learning Activities to create flashcards, practice tests, and matching activities

  1. Navigate to https://learningactivities.edu.cloud.microsoft.
  2. Sign in using your Algonquin Live credentials.
  3. Click New Activity on the top right and choose an activity from the drop-down list.

What you can do

  • Engage with course material – Use Copilot to summarize readings, explain complex concepts in plain language, and help generate questions to bring to class discussions.
  • Organize ideas and develop writing – Copilot can support brainstorming, outlining, organizing rough notes, and refining clarity and tone while students develop their own drafts.
  • Prepare for assessments – Ask Copilot to generate practice questions, identify key themes across notes, or help plan a study schedule.
  • Create study activities – Copilot Learning Activities can generate flashcards, practice quizzes, and matching exercises to reinforce key concepts.
