Introducing the Spinmaster Innovation Fund

CYBF

For the fourth consecutive year, CYBF (the Canadian Youth Business Foundation) and Spin Master Ltd., Canada’s most innovative toy company, are teaming up to offer financing, mentoring, access to specially designed workshops and more to innovative entrepreneurs through the Spin Master Innovation Fund.

The official launch is May 1, with applications being accepted until June 20. The fund will support up to ten innovative start-ups with each recipient receiving:

  • Up to $50,000 in financing;
  • 2 years of business mentoring;
  • 2 exclusive innovation workshops;
  • Expert advice from Spin Master executives; and
  • Access to helpful business resources & CYBF’s community of over 5,000 members.

Applicants must be between the ages of 18-39

Algonquin College Breath of Life Campaign

In Spring 2014, an interdisciplinary group of students from Algonquin College, Ottawa, will train local birth attendants in newborn resuscitation and work with children and youth on a health and wellness project in the Bunda District, Tanzania. The students will deliver part of the training using an augmented reality application they built themselves with NGRAIN© Augmented Reality. Applied Research Client featured on CBC Ottawa

A client’s collaborative research project focused on bringing accessible clothing to the disabled was recently featured on CBC Ottawa. This project was conducted in collaboration with the Health and Wellness Research Centre (Office of Applied Research and Innovation) and supported through funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
