The silver screen often depicts the world of business as a complex, fast-paced whirlwind; however, Algonquin College offers many programs that demystify this. The reality is that a career in business is what you make it, but it all starts with a solid foundation.

“Adapt, react, re-adapt, apt.”

Each Bachelor of Commerce program combines core business skills with specialized training in a major that aligns with your goals and interests.

In the first three levels, students build a foundation in finance, economics, human resources, law, operations, and project management. In the final terms, they focus on their area of specialization. Bachelor of Commerce programs include:

“There’s always money in the banana stand.”

Speaking of fun, students have access to the Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ARIE) Office. Here, students work with real clients while using the latest technology to create useful products, services, and processes.

Students can also use this space to ideate, launch and grow their own businesses with the support of experts and mentors. This brings us to our next point!

“Sell me this pen!”

If you have a business idea you’d like to explore while earning academic credit, Entrepreneurship Co-op (eCo-op) is the way to go. From developing a business model to pitching your business to potential customers, eCo-op can help students turn their ideas into viable businesses.

eCo-op students work with a mentor in their field of study to create a business plan and potentially launch their business during their co-op term. Students are supported through weekly workshops hosted by the Entrepreneurship Centre, and bi-monthly meetings with their dedicated mentor.

“You can’t make a Tomelette without breaking some Gregs”

Learning from mentors is one thing but learning on the job is another. Many of AC’s Business programs grant students the opportunity to hone their skills in the working world.Students will gain real work experience through paid co-op work terms, Work Integrated Learned (WIL) experiences, field placements, projects, and more! Students learn the ropes from industry experts, ask lots of questions, network, and potentially land a permanent gig before graduation.

“You got a dream… You gotta protect it.”
