2024 Fellowship Award & Honorary Degree Recipients

Four honorary degrees, one fellowship award to be presented at Algonquin College Spring 2024 Convocation

Claude Brulé, President and CEO, Algonquin College, announced today five names of notable leaders in their respective fields who will beheadshots of five honorary degree recipients honoured at the College’s Ottawa Campus Spring Convocation ceremonies at the Canadian Tire Centre.

“Each honoree, with diverse careers and unique journeys, epitomizes success and innovation in their respective fields,” stated Brulé. “Their remarkable accomplishments make them valuable additions to our ceremonies, enriching our graduates’ convocation with their wisdom and guidance.”

Perth Campus ceremonies will take place on June 6, 2024 and Pembroke ceremonies will occur on June 14, 2024. Ottawa Campus and AC Online Campus ceremonies will take place between June 18, 2024 and June 21, 2024.

This year features the presentation of four honorary degrees and a special presentation of the Fellowship Award, which has only been presented once before in the College’s history. The Fellowship Award recognizes exceptional individual community members who have made an invaluable contribution to the College. The award is being presented this year to Steve Barkhouse.

School of Business and Hospitality (Honorary Degree)
Graham Bird, President and CEO, GBA Development and Project Management

Faculty of Arts, Media and Design (Honorary Degree)
Tomson Highway, Indigenous playwright, novelist, pianist and songwriter

School of Advanced Technology (Honorary Degree)
Dipak Roy, Chair, D-TA Systems Inc.

School of Health Studies (Honorary Degree)
Chris Phillips, businessperson; former Ottawa Senators hockey player
