Objectives:

• Understand the importance of student orientation to the clinical setting.
• Explore the responsibilities and roles for the clinical educator as coach and mentor.
• Identify program objectives, highlighting importance, process and resources available.
• Explore and integrate coaching and mentoring principles to support clinical performance.

Introduction

This module will elaborate on student orientation necessities, define the roles and responsibilities of each player on the orientation team and introduce classic coaching and mentoring principles to create a supportive clinical learning environment.
