Competition timelines vary; there is no standard time period. Generally, you can expect to hear from the hiring department within approximately 2-3 weeks if you have been selected for an interview. Once the competition is completed, you will be notified of this through email at the address you supplied on your application.

Please note that Human Resources is not always aware of the progress of competitions (especially part-time postings) until the hiring manager submits the final paperwork identifying the preferred candidate.

A link for the job descriptions is generally added to postings for all full-time support and administrative positions. You may also access job fact sheets for full-time administrative positions on our website. The job description for academic positions is contained in the Academic Collective Agreement .

Once you have submitted your resume, you will not be able to edit or change it, so please proofread it carefully. If you need to resubmit a second application, you may do so but you must contact Human Resources to contact an administrator if you wish your first resume to be deleted.

You will receive a confirmation email (sent to the email address submitted on the application form) from jobs@algonquincollege.com, notifying you that your resume has been included in the competition folder.

For support staff positions, internal candidates are defined by the Support Staff Collective Agreement (Article 17) as full-time support staff employees.

For academic positions, internal candidates are defined by the Academic Collective Agreement (Article 27.11B) as current full-time professors and partial-load professors who have an active contract, or who have had a contract in the month previous to the posting date.
