Top 25 Employers in the National Capital Region… Once again…

national-capital-2015On February 5th, Algonquin College was proud to be named one of the National Capital Region’s Top 25 Employers for 2015 for a second consecutive year. This great achievement would not have been possible without the collective contribution of all our amazing employees; it is a demonstration of the progress we have made as an institution to empower our entire College community to succeed.

Some of the reasons that Algonquin College was selected a Top Employer in Ottawa include:

  • Partial tuition reimbursement for completion of bachelors, masters, and doctorate programs
  • Algonquin College course discount for employees, and discount on full-time programs for family members
  • Access to President and executives via Town Halls; President’s website, newsletter, and X account; New Employee Breakfast; annual Breakfast and BBQ Meetings; and monthly Coffee Break gatherings
  • Strong benefits including Employee Assistance Provider, provisions for faculty sabbaticals, and more
  • Annual Employee Awards and President’s Star Awards to recognize outstanding employees
  • Great office environment with nine on-site food outlets

This great accomplishment can be viewed on Canada’s Top 100 site.

Healthy Eating Competition – $100 Gift Card Prize

Welcome to January 2015! Beginning this month we will be asking you to pick “One Thing”, just one, you can change today, to improve your overall health and wellness. It doesn’t have to be something huge or all-encompassing or overwhelming. Just one thing that you do, for yourself, that can help increase your overall well-being. After enjoying the excess of the holidays many of us make the resolution to focus, or re-focus, on healthy eating. Healthy eating is not to be confused with “dieting.” Healthy eating means making changes we can live with and enjoy for the rest of our lives.
