Through this annual event that takes place in April, our goal is to recognize the valuable contributions of our long-serving and retiring members of the previous year, fostering an environment of appreciation and gratitude for all they do and have done for Algonquin College. Moreover, it is our way of saying “Thank You” for their contributions to the success of the College!

How are my years of service calculated?

Full-Time

Full Time Equivalency (Part-Time, Other Than Full-Time Hours) worked prior to being hired as Full-time are added to the total service to determine total years of service.

Other Than Full-Time (Part-Time)

One year of service for any portion of each year worked as Part-time.

Please note this this a recognition of long service only and is not reflection of seniority or service related to pension, benefits or compensation.

Which years are formally recognized and celebrated at this event?

Algonquin College recognizes both Full-time and Part-time employees who have achieved 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years of service as well as retirees at this event!

Additionally, all milestone recipients and retirees also receive a personalized, signed letter from President Claude Brulé.

How do I RSVP/receive an invitation for this event?

Approximately two months prior to the date of the event, you will receive an email from the Vice-President of Human Resources’ office containing detailed registration instructions. Furthermore, once we’ve received your RSVP via Eventbrite, you will receive a calendar invitation with specific details such as date, time, location, and instructions for gift selection (if eligible).

Who can attend the event with me?

Long Service invitees are not eligible to bring a guest to the event. Retirees are eligible to bring one (1) guest to the event.

If I am unable to attend the event, where can I pick-up my gift, letter, pin etc.?

In the couple of days following the event, an email with detailed instructions on where and when to pick up your gift, letter and/or pin at the Ottawa Campus. If you are unable to pick up at the designated time and location, your package will be mailed out to you via regular mail.

What if I’m an employee of the Perth or Pembroke Campuses?

Regardless of your job location, you will be invited to attend the main event which takes place at the Ottawa Campus and celebrate with all long serving and retiring Algonquin College employees.

Who will be invited to attend?

All Algonquin College Executive Team (ACET) and Algonquin College Leadership Team (ACLT) members are invited to attend the event.
