Faculty & Staff

Laptop cartoonWelcome AC staff, contractors and partners to the Information Security Unit website! Here you will find resources to help you become better informed of current cyber vulnerabilities and threats as well as suggested safeguards that will help protect College information and information systems. We all need to work together in partnership to create a safe cyber environment that supports our mission and values including being a global leader in digitally connected applied education and learning.

Cyber criminals and hacktivists have never been busier trying to steal and monetize personally identifiable information (PII), personal health information (PHI), applied research (AR) data, electronic money, and other sensitive and valuable institutional information. 70% of Canadian Higher Education institutions were the victim of a cyber-attack last year, and of those of our size, averaged more than 20 such attacks. It is important that we keep abreast of the risks, remain vigilant, and report any system vulnerabilities and suspicious cyber activity.

Please take a few moments to review the resources provided here, safeguard your own College and personal technology that access sensitive College data, and learn safe computing practices.

Check out our Tip Sheets for a few security tips that will get you started.
