General Questions – for Programs Delivered at AC in Toronto Campus in North York or Mississauga

Is my program delivered by CDI College in Mississauga or North York part of a curriculum licensing agreement?

Yes.

Programs delivered at our AC in Toronto locations in North York or Mississauga are delivered by our partner, CDI College, as part of a curriculum licensing agreement.

Does my program provide eligibility for the PGWP?

All programs of 8 months duration or longer and delivered at our Ottawa, Perth, Pembroke, 700 Sussex, or Rideau-Perley campuses will continue to provide eligibility for the Post Graduate Work Permit program.

Will my spouse be eligible for Spousal Open Work Permit?

If your program begins in Spring 2024, your spouse might remain eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit. If you already have a study permit, or have applied for a study permit before January 22, 2024, AND your spouse also applied for a spousal open work permit before January 22, 2024, they are eligible for spousal work permit.

If you have not applied for a study permit before January 22, 2024, your spouse might not be eligible for a Spousal Open Work Permit. We will provide additional information regarding this change as it becomes available.

What is the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) and how do I obtain this letter?

Effective January 22nd, 2024, international students who have not yet applied for a study permit and who are outside of Canada, require a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) from the province or territory where they intend to study, according to new regulations from IRCC (Immigration Refugee Citizenship Canada).

Students applying to study at Algonquin College must inform the Registrar’s Office through the PAL Request form if they require a PAL. You can read more about who does NOT require a PAL on the IRCC website.

Will the announcement that the number of study permit issued for 2024 will be reduced impact my acceptance?

No.

At this point, we do not believe that the reduction on study permits issued for 2024 will impact your place at Algonquin College’s AC in Toronto Campus for Spring 2024. If you are accepted in a program and pay the tuition fees as per the deadline mentioned in the Letter of Acceptance, your acceptance is secured.

Will a refund on tuition fees be provided to students who withdraw from either the Spring 2024 or Fall 2024 semester due to the changes announced by IRCC?

How do the recently announced changes impact my acceptance or application to study in an Algonquin College program delivered by CDI College?
