Step 2.1 Concept

If the concept has a characteristic to be a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result according to a specific business case, we define the concept as a PROJECT.

Step 1. Concept

Intake Form is the starting point in this process. You need to fill it out and send to: ITSPMO@algonquincollege.com

Step 2. Concept Review

Service Manager and Enterprise/System Architects meet weekly to review new 'Concepts' and determine rough level of effort and categorize each request as either they are 'Projects' or 'Operational'. This categorization is needed in case the Intake Form is filled for an operational work.  Please note that standard process of getting operational requests is by contacting ITS via https://www.algonquincollege.com/its/about-contact-its/

Step 2.2. Concept Review

If the 'Concept' reflect an ongoing, routine activity, such as fixing a technical issue, that is involved in Algonquin College's primary business, we define the concept as OPERATIONAL.

Step 3.1. Concept Assessment

Architectural Assessment Team is led by the Enterprise Architects and involves all Technical Architects. They review all information submitted within Concept Intake Form that includes business and strategic alignment, business objective, and current state and challenges. Their objective is to classify projects in regards of size, level of effort needed and complexity.

Step 3.2. Concept Assessment

Service Manager and his/her team are responsible on dealing with operational requests.

Step 4. Preliminary Resource Allocation

Service Managers and Associate Directors receive the assessment outcome from the Assessment Team regarding project size, level of effort needed and complexity. They accordingly plan what resources can be allocated in terms of workload and schedule from their team.

Step 5. Prioritization by Business

Area Director is informed on preliminary resource allocation to the project request including potential start date. Area Director accordingly decide on what level of priority the project should have.

Step 6. Project Starts

As Project Management Office, we get the business priority and accordingly start the project!
