ITS COMMS: College Zoom to MS Teams Transition Plan

Posted: June 19, 2025

ITS COMMS : College Zoom to MS Teams Transition Plan

Where: All Campuses

What: Zoom to MS Teams Transition

When: Partial Replacement of Zoom by September 2025

In alignment with the College’s financial sustainability efforts, ITS is currently assessing existing IT solutions in order to identify opportunities for cost savings. As part of these efforts, the College will be transitioning from Zoom to MS Teams.

In consultation with stakeholders and impacted users, ITS will move forward with this transition as follows:

Partial Replacement of Zoom by September 2025

  • Users will be transitioned to MS Teams accompanied by MS Teams training.
  • Zoom rooms will be converted into MS Teams rooms (except for those at the Perth Campus). The plan has been developed and will be shared in an upcoming communication update.
  • MS Teams instead of Zoom will be used with TutorOcean and SpringShare.
  • Areas not impacted:
    • Use of Zoom for Faculty, staff who instruct, and students (except when using TutorOcean and SpringShare).
    • Use of Zoom webinars for College Townhalls and major events (participants do not need a Zoom license).

To ensure a smooth transition, timely communications will be provided, and training will be offered as needed. We are reviewing and analyzing the feedback received from the Academic area and will use it to inform planning activities beyond September 2025.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the ITS Client Care Group at ext. 5555 or via email at 5555@algonquincollege.com.
