Test d’évaluation de français TEF Canada and TEFAQ
Since 2002, the Canadian government has recognized the results of the TEF to satisfy language skills for immigration and citizenship requests.
The fee for the e-TEF Canada is $389.00 Canadian which must be paid upon registration. You may opt for individual competencies by selecting them when registering.

Please note that places are limited for each test date and that you must pay to confirm your place. Payment must be made within 24 hours of receiving the payment email.
Be sure to check the requirements of the organization for which you are taking the test to ensure they will accept results from multiple certificates. Note: some organizations, including IRCC, require that the results of all tests be included on a single document, meaning candidates must take all tests on the same day.
The competencies are:
- Compréhension orale : 40 min – 40 questions
- Compréhension écrite : 60 min – 40 questions
- Expression orale : 15 min – 2 sujets à traiter
- Expression écrite : 60 min – 2 sujets à traiter
The TEF scores are valid for two years. If your results are not satisfactory, you must wait 20 days before retaking the test.
Results
The results will be emailed to you within one to ten business days.

Please note: Your appeal will only be considered in the event of a serious anomaly or malfunction during test administration. If no technical or administrative anomaly is found, your request will be automatically rejected. Results obtained in previous sessions, the use of French in a professional context, or personal perceptions of proficiency level are not grounds for initiating a reassessment.
A double check is automatically performed for your listening and reading comprehension tests. Writing and Speaking tests are both assessed by two independent examiners.
