Learning involves a balance between skill and challenge. When teaching diverse students, it is important to be prepared to vary how much support we offer and the type of support we provide to sustain engagement. What motivates someone to stick with a difficult learning task can vary greatly, depending on the person, the situation, or what they’re learning (CAST, 2024).
