Lesson 2 – Design Options for Interaction
Our learning materials and learning spaces are not always accessible to all students. However, we can design educational materials and learning experiences that are inclusive and accessible for everyone in our courses. This is important so that students who have disabilities and those who use assistive technologies have access to the same learning opportunities as students who don’t rely on this technology to read, write, communicate, or move around the digital or physical classroom (CAST, 2024). All students need access to their learning environment and materials, including the opportunity to participate and express their understanding.

Reflections and Resources
The UDL Guidelines 3.0 (2024) encourage educators to vary and honour methods for response, navigation, and movement. Review the reflection prompts below. Then, explore Helpful Resources for information on making experiential learning tasks, like field trips, more accessible for all learners.
