Algonquin College provides a broad range of services that will help you get ahead, and support you throughout your studies. We can help you with information about planning strategies for returning to school, course selection, program options, and more.

Academic Referral Services is responsible for helping new and prospective students clarify their career and educational goals, and identify pathways to achieving them. We support Canadian Forces family members with easily accessible and supportive options for moving into training, education and career pathways. Career Samplers for Youth (ages 12-17) are a great opportunity for young people to get to know Algonquin College, while learning in our state-of-the-art facilities. Get a taste of future careers in areas such as computer technology, culinary arts, interior and multimedia design, police and public safety, electronics and robotics, as well as building, automotive and woodworking trades.

Financial Aid
Our financial aid staff is responsible for administering financial aid and answering your questions about how to pay for your education. Special consideration is given to military members, partners or children of military members who are enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program.
Financial aid options include:

  • federal and provincial student loan programs;
  • scholarships and bursaries;
  • general and program-related bursary funding from money donated by the College, individuals, companies and other organizations, including the Military Families Fund Sens Foundation bursary which is awarded to students attending the Pembroke, Perth or Woodroffe Campus.

Student Employment Services offers support services for students and graduates to assist with their job search for employment through community job fairs, career networking fairs, resume writing and job search clinics.

Co-operative Education is an integral part of most of our programs, allowing students the opportunity to learn from experience through field placements or clinical experiences. These placements provide valuable insight into the world of employment in your area of study. Certain programs in business, computer studies and electronics allow you to take part in a paid work term as part of your program requirements.

Apprenticeship Training at Algonquin College gives you the opportunity to learn a skilled trade in one of more than a dozen employment areas. You will combine practical, on-the-job experience with comprehensive in-school education as you learn from trained experts and through your own hands-on experiences.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a process that helps adult learners to identify, articulate and demonstrate relevant learning acquired through life and work experiences, and translate this learning into college credit.
