Adam Joiner

Adam Joiner, Chair

First Name: Adam
Last Name: Joiner
Title: Chair

Adam Joiner was nine years old the first time he visited a clubhouse operated by the Boys and Girls Club. Today, 27 years later, he is the Director of Programs at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. What links those circumstances is Joiner’s devotion to the Club, a devotion that has seen him advance from a volunteer to senior management. Behind Joiner’s attachment is the discovery of how the BGCO can make a difference a young person’s life. Joiner, a graduate of Algonquin College’s Social Services Worker program, recalls how much he benefited as a youngster from the tremendous opportunities provided by the Club. He was, for instance, able to complete his Algonquin program in 2004 thanks in part to a scholarship through the Club. “The SSW program had a tremendous impact on my life,” he says. “I enjoyed learning and growing in the program.” Joiner likes to think that whether in his job or as a PAC member, he’s helping young people to the same degree. “The PACs allow a community voice that help support the College in program development,” he says. “It ensures Algonquin is supporting students with the most current information on working in the field.”
