Darlene Hall-Barrett works to create a uniquely personal space for her clients. Whether the need is to refresh a small older home, add some wow-factor to a spectacular riverfront property, or find the best furniture layout to enjoy the view from a downtown condominium, she uses her Ottawa-based company, Dressing Rooms, to create a space that suits the client. Dressing Rooms has been in business for nearly 20 years, providing interior decorating services for house and condo owners in the National Capital Region. Hall-Barrett attributes some of her success to her time as an Algonquin College student in the late 1990s when she studied Residential Décor through the Continuing Education department. “This program helped me to start my own decorating business,” she says. Now, as a member of the Program Advisory Committee for the Interior Decoration program, she’s glad to give back to the College and its students. “The PAC keeps Algonquin College consistently aware of what is expected from students once they get out in the workplace,” says Hall-Barrett. “Staying on top of the latest technologies and developments, and tweaking the program to address these changes, helps increase students’ chances of being successful.” She knows whereof she speaks. Hall-Barrett’s winning interior designs have been featured on Rona Dream Home and televised on Global, CH and Prime.
