By day, Thomas Watson works as co-owner with his wife Alison at the Ottawa Laser Clinic, a business that prides itself on giving its clients “freedom from hair, freedom from ink, and freedom from flaws.” Watson works behind the scenes supporting their thriving small business with his accounting and marketing skills acquired as an Algonquin College alumnus. He is a strong advocate of aesthetics licensing and regulation and works to increase the accountability and safety of the industry. He is proud to participate as Chair of the Esthetician-Spa PAC and help ensure that the program’s courses are on-trend and providing the best educational value to students hoping to enter the industry. “I feel a strong responsibility to our industry and the development of future estheticians,” he says. “The worst thing a student can do is spend money on an education that’s outdated.” In the evenings, he switches gears and assumes the role of front man with the Ottawa-area country band Rainwater Whiskey. The group is well known in the region for its performances on the same bill with many of Canada’s top country performers and for its performances at fundraisers for numerous worthy causes.
