Are you a recent graduate, about to graduate, or currently working and are interested in upgrading your credential and continuing your studies? If you’ve recently completed part or all of a program your previous experience may be recognized into a new program at Algonquin College.

Credit Transfer vs Advanced Standing

Credit Transfer

Receive an exemption through credit transfer by having individual post-secondary courses recognized. Algonquin College accepts:

Internal credit transfer from one Algonquin program to another, and
External credit transfer from other post-secondary institutions

Advanced Standing

Applicants with partial or previously completed post-secondary education can apply for advanced standing in a similar program. Applicants who receive approval for advanced standing enter into an upper level (semester) of a program and complete their credential in a shorter amount of time.

Steps to applying for internal or external advanced standing:

Complete your application at OntarioColleges.ca.
Select the program of your choice.
If available, select the advanced level (semester) of your choice from the drop-down list that appears. If there is no drop-down option, apply to the program normally and complete a request for Advanced Standing as available on our website.
