Job Description

As of March 2024~CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FOR FIRST TIME JANITORIAL SERVICES

We would like to offer you a job with FIRST TIME Janitorial, please be aware there are conditions to your offer & continued employment. First, you must ALREADY be living local to Pembroke. Some shifts are only 2 hours, and others are short notice. We want to give you money, but we need you to do your part too.

Please note:

1- Your safety begins with you. The M.O.L. (Ministry of Labour) E.S.A. has strict guidelines regarding workers’ rights and responsibilities. We need a new or recent (1 month old, max) OP.P. Criminal Record Check (CRC). If you require a support person to work, they would also need a CRC – but we won’t be paying them, just you.

2- We train our workers in AODA, TDG, BBP, WHMIS and other government legislated topics, annually. You must have a good grasp of English, or, if you are unfamiliar with English, or are unclear with reading skills, this test can be offered verbally rather than in our open-book format.

3- Some clients have their own rules as to who can even go on their premises. If you have a peace bond or other such document not allowing you to work at certain worksites, we need to know. You will need a working phone at all times.

4-You must own a pair of CSA approved (green triangle) work boots even though not all job sites require them.

5- MUST BE ABLE TO GET TO WORK FOR 5:30AM, AND OTHER SHIFTS LIKE OVERNIGHT FROM 9PM TO 5:30AM. Two and three hour shifts are normal shift lengths for some work sites, and at certain times, OTHERS ARE 5 OR 8 HOUR SHIFTS.

6-If YOU are being hired primarily for the LTC facility shifts, be aware that THEY schedule the dates, we schedule the people to fill in the dates they request. You may be elsewhere, if not there. Anywhere, and everywhere, you would be expected to do general janitorial duties like sweep, dust, mop, wash windows, empty garbage, clean walls, counters and washrooms, desks, strip & wax, and scrub & wax. Machinery use would be taught to you prior to you using industrial cleaning equipment like our automatic scrubber, propane or electric burnisher, and stand-on scrubber etc.
