TOWN OF PETAWAWA

FIREFIGHTERS

Description of Position:
The Firefighter position consists of manual work of a hazardous nature involving fighting fires, difficult rescue work such as, but not limited to: auto-extrication, and ice water and swift water rescues. Regular training and some maintenance work on fire department assets and vehicles is required. This is a paid on call position that requires a significant time commitment for both training and responding to emergency incidents. A full job description is available at petawawa.ca

Prerequisites:
• 18 years of age or older
• Must possess a minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
• Must reside within the municipal boundaries of the Town of Petawawa (including Garrison Petawawa)
• Must be able to pass medical and fitness assessments
• Must be able to respond to a variety of calls requiring availability during daytime, evenings, nights and weekends
• Must be able to attend required training and complete the mandatory training program
• Class DZ license, an asset
• Firefighter related courses and certifications, an asset

Rate of Pay:
• $23.36 (probationary rate) to $35.91 per hour (max rate) for active duty
• $300.00 + 3 hours active duty pay/stand-by shift
