We are currently hiring two Research Assistants to join our Programs & Student Success department. Reporting to the Manager, Research and Impact Unit, this role is to support all research-related activities within the growing Research and Impact team. This is an opportunity to apply data science and research techniques within an Indigenous context by collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and reporting data. Responsibilities will vary across data preparation to communicating results in various communication mediums.

Key Responsibilities

• Contributing to research activities, including data collection, cleaning, analysis, reporting and knowledge translation.
• Producing research results under the supervision and with support of the Research and Impact team.
• Developing materials for communicating results, including reports, blog entries, videos, presentations, and other resources.
• Utilizing secondary data sources to answer key research questions.
• Participating in the evaluation of programs and events including analyses, reflections, and reports.

Qualifications

• A degree or field of study in Indigenous Studies, Social Science, Psychology, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, and other research related programs, or equivalent experience.
• An understanding of Indigenous research methodologies is an asset.
• An interest in applying data science and research techniques to an Indigenous context to support and promote Indigenous interests is preferred.
• A strong familiarity with spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with Survey Monkey, SharePoint, and Notion is an asset,
• Strong numeracy skills: a capacity to read and understand data from various sources, synthesize understanding across multiple data sources,
• A drive to learn including new software and research methods, especially in a fast-paced and hands-on environment.
• Strong and effective spoken, written, and research communication skills.
• Ability to work both in a team environment and independently, including ability to stay on task and effectively communicate as a remote staff person.
