J1125-0244 – Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Therapy
Respiratory Therapists practice as members of a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Public Hospitals Act, and the Standards set by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO). The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the scientific application of techniques and procedures to assist the physician and other health care providers in the safe and effective diagnosis, treatment and promotion of the well-being of patients with respiratory and other related disorders.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Current certificate of competence as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
• Basic cardiac life support (BCLS) certificate
• Must have relevant experience
• The Respiratory Therapist, in their independent and inter-dependent functions, meets the ethical, legal requirements of professional practice as outlined both by the Pembroke Regional Hospital and the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (Addendum 2 of this job description)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
• Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to apply basic computer skills
• Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of the CRTO standards of practice
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning
• Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to set priorities
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team member
• Must be flexible and adaptable in a continually changing environment
• Ability to maintain high levels of concentration
• Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
• Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
• Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
