Job Description
Deep Roots Nature & Nursery School is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator or ECE Assistant to join our team. Our program is nature-based and play-focused, providing children with opportunities to explore, create, and learn through outdoor experiences in all seasons.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about early learning, enjoys spending time outdoors, and values building strong relationships with children and families.
Responsibilities
• Support the implementation of a play-based and nature-inspired program aligned with How Does Learning Happen?
• Supervise and engage children in both indoor and outdoor activities in all weather conditions
• Foster a safe, warm, and inclusive environment where children feel supported and encouraged
• Assist with daily routines including meals, toileting, dressing for outdoor play, and transitions
• Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a positive classroom environment
• Observe children and support learning through play, exploration, and creativity
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom and outdoor learning areas
• Communicate respectfully with families and colleagues
Qualifications
• Registered ECE (RECE) in good standing with the College of ECEs or experience working with children as an ECE Assistant
• Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Ability to work outdoors in all seasons
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
