Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
While providing quality care, Supply Staff support the planning, organization, and implementation of programs for children between the ages of 12 months to 12 years of age. Working in a team-based setting, the Supply Staff collaborates with team members for program assurance and quality in a nurturing care and educational backdrop. They lead/support children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical and emotional growth as well as to ensure their security and well-being as part of a group care setting. The Supply Staff will carry out their principle duties and responsibilities under the direction and guidance of the Supervisor, in accordance with ADCCS Philosophy, ADCCS Personnel Policies and Procedures, ADCCS Parent Handbooks, compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), compliance with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU), and in collaboration with the County of Renfrew Child Care Services.
Supply Staff will, as part of a team-based managed program, assist with the long and short range activities in accordance with program objectives that are developmentally appropriate in practice and in program philosophy.
Key Objectives:
• To perform duties in accordance with the Philosophy and Program Statement of ADCCS and the Centre
• To support/provide high quality, inclusive, child care in a group setting that meets the diverse needs of the programs
• To work as part of a team to meet the needs of the children and families in care
Requirements:
• Experience with children, preferably licensed care
• Knowledge of CCEYA and the current curriculum
• Up-to-date Standard First Aid and CPR (C)
• Up-to-date Immunizations and Health Assessment (in accordance with RCDHU)
• Must be 18 years or older
• Up-to-date negative Vulnerable Sector Check (current within 6 months)
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), Safety in 4 Steps, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities training (AODA), CCEYA certificate (or ability to obtain)
• Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job which can include frequent lifting of 20 pounds or more, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching etc.
• Ability to work shifts between 6:00 am and 5:45 pm
• RECE or other child-centred education considered an asset

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the constant supervision, monitoring, safety and well-being of the children
o Provide quality care
o Adhere to the CCEYA and safety regulations and guidelines outlined in the ADCCS. Personnel Policies and Procedures as well as the ADCCS Parent Handbooks
o Ability and confidence to provide First Aid for day to day encounters and CPR in the event of emergency situations
o Support good health and hygiene of the children while in care (handwashing, toileting, sunscreen, etc.)
o Maintain a safe, healthy environment (indoor and outdoor) that is reflective in keeping facilities and equipment clean and in good repair
o Be involved in meal time which could include food preparation, serving, supervising, and clean up
o Be aware of any allergies in the program and Centre (food, environmental, etc.)
o Be aware of and report any existing and/or potential workplace hazards
• Guided by the Centre’s Program Statement, respond to the needs of the children in the program (individually or group)
o Interact with the children in a positive, supportive, developmentally appropriate manner (engaged and at their level)
o With your team, support developmentally appropriate programming and routines and transitions that benefit the needs of your individual program
o Observe and respond to the needs of children and families (health, developmental, etc.), collaboratively with your team, including your Supervisor
o Be aware of or open to behaviour guidance techniques in order to support challenging situations
o Supports and makes a commitment to the principles of inclusion. Aims to involve and engage the children in all aspects of the program.
o Establishes and maintains a caring and collaborative relationship with families of children in care, being aware and respectful of each family’s unique priorities for their children
o Develop nurturing, responsive relationships with all children in care
• Share-in the set-up of indoor and outdoor environments to safely support all areas of development
o Together with your team assist in planning, preparation, and implementation of developmentally appropriate programming that is reflective of our Program Statement and the current curriculum
o Assist in planning and conducting activities for a balanced program that provides children the opportunity to observe, question, and investigate (individual and group)
o Could be asked to participate in follow up of activities including documentation and clean up

• Participates as a part of the team to support operations of an individual program and the Centre as a whole
o Respects and maintains confidentiality at all times that relates to families, children, staff, volunteers and ADCCS as a whole, in a professional and ethical manner
o Maintains appropriate open, consistent communication with team members, families, and Supervisor
o Redirect parent questions or concerns to the Teacher, if you are unable to help with the matter (making sure Supervisor is aware of any concerns)
o Diligently uses and reviews the program room communication log
o Observes and records relevant information on each child in accordance to Centre practices
o Performs other administrative duties as requested (photocopying, charting, attendance, etc.)
o Attend and participate in all meetings as required (program, Centre, family, etc.)
o Attend all mandatory meetings and training as requested by the Supervisor
o Aware of Emergency Management practices
