Job Description

Children/Youth Outreach Caseworker
Permanent Position- 37.5 Hours per week
Renfrew County (North)

Location: Throughout Renfrew County (North) –Pembroke, Petawawa, Deep River

Responsibilities:

This position includes front-line services to children/youth who have witnessed or experienced violence, which includes one-to-one, safety planning, groups and drop-in sessions. Provides support and education to mothers on the issues of VAW, the effects of child witnessing, non-violent disciplinary methods, child development, nutrition and community resources. Provides information to children/youth regarding healthy relationships and advocates and makes referrals to other services.

Required qualifications include;

• Graduate of a post-secondary program in social sciences or related field
• A thorough understanding of the issue of violence against women, and the impact on child witnesses
• Experience in crisis intervention
• Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively both as a team member and independently
• Ability to speak and write in both English & French (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car
• Current First Aid/CPR Certificate
• Current Vulnerable Sector Check
