Jane Thwaits is the perfect model of Algonquin College’s values of caring, learning, integrity and respect. Jane is the residence life office clerk working alongside the residence life coordinator, residence life manager and resident advisors. Jane is the first smiling face that many of us see in the morning; her constant positive attitude is infectious and could brighten anyone’s day. Jane has such an optimistic outlook on life and all of her day to day activities. She cares about the wellbeing of her colleagues, as well as the wellbeing of all of the students in residence (the literal purpose of the residence life program). Jane is the prime example of altruism in today’s society and workplace. Jane’s position as office clerk is a new position in residence life this year; therefore, her determination to learn and grow with the position goes without saying. She has been faced with many challenges this year, and has planned and executed many events and programs in the residence building. Jane performs all tasks and job requirements with integrity. She is a punctual and dependable worker. She puts in long hours and is not afraid to work or attend events that run on weekends. Not only is she an efficient worker, Jane is a trustworthy confidant to many of her colleagues and students in the building. She is respectful of everyone’s different morals and values and well as living up to her own standards. She is constantly working and thinking of ways to make residence a more positive space. Jane Thwaits demonstrates excellence in her position, and her motivation of student success does not go unnoticed. Jane is a pleasure to work with, and a treasured employee in this residence and throughout the college.
