It is my pleasure to nominate a very worthy candidate for the President’s Star. Leah-Anne Brown joined the College in June of 2011 and quickly embraced her role as the Recruitment/Performance Management Officer. Less than a year later Leah-Anne took on the role of Acting, Manager of Organizational Effectiveness with great enthusiasm and pride. Leah-Anne’s dedication to her staff, her professionalism, and consistent commitment to the College’s core values evident to everyone she meets.
Caring – Leah-Anne sets a positive and caring example at Algonquin College this is evident through her interactions with internal and external clients. She sincerely cares for the wellbeing of her staff and the College community and this standard is present in every action. Leah-Anne promotes this value and is proud to work at the College, an example of Leah-Anne’s efforts was the creation of the recruitment video on why Algonquin College is a “Great Place to Work”.
Learning – Leah-Anne undertook the Acting Manager, Organizational Effectiveness role within Human Resources in May 2012 and endeavours to learn more on a daily basis. She has taken a great deal of time and effort to learn many aspects of the College in order to have a better understanding of how Algonquin functions. She has made excellent efforts to promote new skills and thought processes through Lunch and Learns for her staff and the College community. Her commitment to life-long learning is also evident in her achievement of being recognized in the industry as a Certified Human Resources Professional this past year.
Integrity – Leah-Anne is an honourable and forthright individual whose straightforward and caring nature instills confidence and respect in her clients and staff.
Respect – Leah-Anne’s respectful attitude shows an honesty and humbleness that inspires others to follow her lead.
