John Tappin
Information and Communications Technology Dept.
John Tappin is the Coordinator/Professor for Internet Applications and Web Development and a professor for the Computer Programmer program of study as part of the Information and Communications Technology Department.
Having been with the college for many years and nearing retirement, John is very deserving of this award, if for no other reason, due to his commitment to students and fellow employees.
John spends many hours with individual students in an effort to guide them to the successful completion of their program. Many would offer that John is always a pleasure to work with and always has the students’ best interests at heart.
Last November John agreed to change things up and as part of the Movember fund raiser for prostate cancer research. His students shaved off his beard, which he has had since a teenager. The student who raised the most was given the opportunity to do the shaving. In the end, two students tied, so both were given this opportunity. All who attended had a great time.
John is well known for inspiring and motivating his students and is concerned for their success. He consistently demonstrates dedication and commitment, not only to students but to the college as a whole.
John models the College’s values of Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect and is a most deserving recipient of the President’s Star Award.
