Teaching Guidelines
5.5 Working within legal and ethical guidelines when creating learning materials
What is an Ethical Professor?
It is a Professor’s fundamental responsibility to ensure they carry out ethical teaching practices. This includes inspiring learners in face-to-face, hybrid and online learning environments, evaluating students fairly, ensuring accommodations are created for students with disabilities and respecting the value of each learner in the classroom. According to Hill and Zinsmeister in Becoming an Ethical Teacher, “ Ethical teaching means engaging in behaviours that meet these responsibilities in ways expected by students, your institution, and your discipline.” ( Hill & Zinsmeister, p. 125).
